{"id":3303,"date":"2014-05-18T18:25:56","date_gmt":"2014-05-18T22:25:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rockwellblake.com\/blog\/?p=3303"},"modified":"2014-11-27T09:18:55","modified_gmt":"2014-11-27T13:18:55","slug":"stolen-goods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rockwellblake.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/18\/stolen-goods\/","title":{"rendered":"Stolen Goods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Last Tuesday was a big day for me.\u00a0 I discovered what to say about the work ahead of me and I had a wonderful time\u00a0rummaging through\u00a0my dustbin of memories because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/meg.lefevre\" target=\"_blank\">Meg Le Fevre<\/a> invited me to participate in an interview.\u00a0 She is working for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenortheastgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Northeast Group<\/a> who publishes a magazine, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbmonthly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Strictly Business<\/a>, for which Ms. Le Fevre writes and they intend to produce an arts issue.\u00a0 I guess I fit the profile for inclusion, especially when she asked me if I called myself a singer or a musician.\u00a0 I puffed up my chest, and in my best rendition of self-importance, I declared myself an ARTIST.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It was so much fun to be back in the career saddle again.\u00a0 Tenors are always talking about themselves and enjoying it like no one else can, except a politician.\u00a0 It has been a nice long hiatus for me.\u00a0 I have managed to avoid that interview thing for so long that turning on the entertainer this time was a reminder of how it felt way back when interviews first became part of this singer\u2019s life. Note: I said \u201csinger\u201d and not \u201cartist\u201d.\u00a0 There you have a small diagram of the self-awareness with which I am gifted.\u00a0 In those first days of becoming a professional singer my tenor presumptions included ARTIST status for self, but\u2026\u2026\u00a0 Well, even tenors can develop standards.\u00a0 My memories shook off some dust and I was able to entertain myself while handing out answers to uncharacteristically good questions.\u00a0 Ms. Le Fevre didn\u2019t ask me even one boring question, like,,, you know: \u201cWhat\u2019s your favorite Opera?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I\u2019ll let my interviewer put order to the questions and answers in <em>Strictly Business<\/em> while I tell you that one of her questions really inspired me.\u00a0 Unlike many interviewers I have encountered, she actually did her homework.\u00a0 She read a few pages on this website of mine and printed out a few paragraphs to read back to me.\u00a0 One of them put some old memories into direct contact with present plans.\u00a0 When these thought connections happen in my head I know there is a God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you have visited my <a href=\"https:\/\/rockwellblake.com\/blog\/master-classes-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Master Classes<\/a> page lately, you know that I am planning to participate in an educational event in my North Country enclave of cold tolerant folk.\u00a0 Making an announcement for that event started troubling my mind the day after <a href=\"http:\/\/web.plattsburgh.edu\/academics\/music\/faculty\/miano.php\" target=\"_blank\">Jo Ellen Miano<\/a> said she was going to try to put it together.\u00a0 I left Tuesday\u2019s interview with this blog just about written in my head.\u00a0 God is good!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As Ms. La Fevre read the second paragraph of \u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/rockwellblake.com\/blog\/what-is-it-about\/is-it-about-me\/how-i-started\/\" target=\"_blank\">How I Started<\/a>\u201d many memories of how I stole so many tricks of the trade from so many Great Artists flooded my thoughts.\u00a0 Those memories of theft and my hopes to help young people on their quest to become ARTISTS coalesced into an idea.\u00a0 Why not call what I have to offer at this Master Class \u201cStolen Goods\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before Tuesday\u2019s sun set (it\u2019s going down later and later up here) I thought to check my email. Ms. Miano informed me that our event had been opened for participants.\u00a0 All I had to do was write down what was already rattling around between my ears to announce this event.\u00a0 So why did it take so long to get this posted? Well\u2026. You know.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please Come to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plattsburgh.edu\/music\" target=\"_blank\">Plattsburgh<\/a> and I will do my best to turn my artistic tool box upside down on to purloin way back when I was only just a singer.\u00a0 That is if you can carry it all.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It is a shame that my idea for a title came too late to offer to Ms. Miano for her
